Placenta Encapsulation
Depleted, drained, emotional vs nurtured, energised and balanced - what would you prefer?
As a mother I know only too well how depleted and drained you can feel once the initial high of meeting your precious baby has passed. You have been busy preparing for bub's arrival and ensuring that all is organised and you're all set for a positive, empowering birth experience. But have you thought about you!
Bub takes a while to adjust to being earthside and you need time to adjust to your transition to a mother, whether it be for the first or fourth time. Each new baby reinvents us as mothers and that deserves to be honoured.
Your body, mind and soul are going through one of the most transformative rites of passage it can and it's important that is recognised and supported. Approximately 80% of new mums develop the "baby blues," where low mood and energy make every day tasks challenging let alone needing to care for a newborn on top.
It should go without saying that rest, nutritious food, hydration and support are vital for every new mum but this is not always the case. However, one thing you can do for yourself is to consume your placenta! Yes, you heard right - during birth and breastfeeding you lose many nutrients and yet your body needs to work harder than usual. Your hormones are on a rollercoaster, your mind is racing about how you're going to do all you think you need to and you're just drained.
Honour and support yourself with a placenta package and watch your energy rise and your mood elevate.
The placenta is an amazing organ that was created to nurture your baby throughout pregnancy. It contains stem cells, iron, protein and is rich in vitamin B6. It also contains hormones (one of which is the love hormone Oxytocin). In fact, took over the role of some of your body's hormonal functions during pregnancy, which is why they drop so low after birth - it takes your body time to recognise the loss and kick pre-pregnancy hormone regulation into gear again. Consuming your placenta can help fill this gap.
I can feel some grimaces taking place but you don't have to eat your placenta like a piece of meat (although a small piece of placenta in a smoothie has amazing benefits - Read more). Placenta encapsulation is a palatable, convenient way to consume your placenta so that you and your baby can continue to benefit from its goodness for weeks or even years after your baby's birth.
Women who have taken their placenta pills have reported the following:
– an easing of the baby blues.
– an increase in breastmilk production.
– a quicker end to postpartum bleeding.
– an easing of stress.
– a more balanced mood and energy levels.
Womb Service Placenta Menu
The Essential Energy Package
Capsules - $310*
100 per cent pure placenta, cleaned, slowly dehydrated using the TCM method (see FAQs) until it is dry enough to be ground into a powder. It is then placed inside capsules for easy ingestion.
The Balance Package
Capsules and 100ml Placenta Tincture - $370* (tincture by itself is $80)
A tincture has so many potential benefits and lasts long after the capsules are gone. It is made from a piece of your own raw placenta and steeped in alcohol for 6 weeks, creating a powerful remedy that can be used during times of stress, transition (such as when your menstrual cycle resumes) and PMS. Some mums even keep some for menopause!
The Nurture Package
Capsules, Tincture and Herbal Salve $410* (salve by itself is $50)
A soothing salve is made fresh for you at the time of encapsulation. It contains a healing blend of oils and herbs that calm and protect the skin and can be used for nappy rash, c-section scars, sore nipples amongst many other conditions. Please note this salve does not generally contain any placenta - see FAQs for further information.
Why not add a Fresh Placenta Smoothie $80 with any package
Fresh placenta has a very effective effect on reducing blood flow after birth and gives the body an immediate boost of nutrients.
Fresh organic berries, a dairy free milk and honey/rice malt syrup make for a lovely drink that you'd never know had placenta in it!
*All packages come with a complimentary cord keepsake and a digital photo of your placenta (if desired). The keepsake is made from the umbilical cord and is a beautiful reminder of the connection you and your baby had over the previous 9 months.
Full usage information is supplied for all items. Prices are inclusive of pick up and delivery from most of Sydney’s major birthing hospitals. A fee of $50 per round trip will apply for Campbelltown and Liverpool hospitals.
I aim to collect your placenta on the day your bub is born and it takes between 24-48 hours to process. Once ready I will deliver back to the hospital or your home ready for you to commence taking your capsules - the ideal time for which is when your milk supply comes in, usually around day 3-5 after birth.
Please see the FAQs page for more information.
I have completed Placenta Encapsulation Specialist Training and also courses in Bloodborne Pathogens Safety and Food Safety.
